for a aqua guard representative
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. Today I’d like to take a minute to share with you the AquaGuard difference when it comes to installing a new roof on your home. It really comes down to three things: our company, our product, and our process. You see, AquaGuard has been locally owned and operated here in Georgia for over 25 years. We’ve served 40 to 50 thousand customers over those 25 years, and we are still here to stand behind each and every one of them. We were named a Cobb county top five small business, and we’ve worked hard over the years to earn 10 Better Business Bureau Integrity Awards for customer service and marketplace ethics. With an average of over 100 jobs completed each and every week, you can be confident that AquaGuard will be there when you need us. And AquaGuard is part of the Klaus roofing network, the largest network of roofing contractors in the nation. So, what about the roofing products we use? Well, we use only IKO shingles for our roof replacements. Why IKO? They are a family-owned 70-year old roofing shingle and product manufacturer. Being a family-owned versus a public company means that their decisions are made in the best interest of the product and not the shareholders. IKO currently has 25 plants worldwide with 12 here in the USA, and the largest new manufacturing plant in the country is just a few hours away in Alabama. IKO maintains the strictest quality control standards in the world today, and their shingles are 20% heavier than the competitions. That added weight means added product and protection for your home. The exclusive IKO reinforced nailing zone means that these shingles can hold tight to your home’s roof, and can take just about anything that mother nature can dish out without bending cracking or coming off altogether. Lastly, let’s touch on our process, the Klaus roofing way, that sets AquaGuard apart from the competition. You see, we assign a project manager to be on site as your liaison for the entire installation. Their job is to walk you through the entire process before we begin to make sure you’re comfortable with every detail. And they stay there until completion. We prep the job carefully with proper material staging, mobile on-site disposal units, and even designated drop zones where the old roof of materials will be dropped for safety and organization around your home. We protect your home with tarps and covers wherever needed. Once the old shingles are removed, we inspect and replace any rotted or damaged decking we may find on the roof. We then re-nail and reinforce your entire roof deck to ensure a tight fit. Next, we tape every seam on your roof to ensure that even the decking is secure and watertight. We waterproof all valleys and eaves, and install the highest quality synthetic underlayment over the entire roof. We reinforce all of the rake and drip edges with four inch aluminum for added protection. And we replace each and every pipe or roof penetration, and put a fresh seal at the bottom. We ensure there are no seams in your roof valleys because these are common areas for leak issues down the road. And of course we provide for proper venting to ensure that your entire home can breathe properly. We clean as we go, and even offer you our one dollar per nail guarantee for anything you may find left behind. All on-site debris is immediately hauled off and disposed of. And lastly, your on site project manager will perform a final walk around with you to ensure total satisfaction before we get paid. And all that is backed by our exclusive 50-year no-leak warranty. That is the AquaGuard difference. If you think you may be in need of a roof repair or a whole new roof, call us here at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. We would be happy to stop out for a free no obligation roof inspection. Have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. By choosing AquaGuard Roofing Solutions for your next roofing project, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that you are in good hands. In fact there are over 250 pairs of those hands who come to work everyday helping us earn our reputation. AquaGuard has been locally owned and operated for over 25 years. And we will be here tomorrow, or 25 more ready to serve you when you need us. We use IKO shingles because they are the heaviest, most durable shingle on the market with a reinforced nailing zone to ensure stability and longevity on your roof. Because of this and our Klaus roofing process, we are able to offer you a 50-year no-leak warranty on your new roof. You get a leak, we come out and fix it. Simple as that. You see, most contractors offer a 20 or a 30-year warranty on the shingle that comes from the manufacturer and only a 10-year warranty on their own workmanship. We stand behind our warranty every step of the way here at AquaGuard. Our goal is to be sure that your job site is clean and organized even as we work. We haul off and properly dispose of all your waste and even offer our one dollar per nail guarantee that your yard will look just like we found it, or better. Look we understand that your roof is your first line of defense against the harmful effects of water, and what it can do to your home. We also know that the job of the company you hire to repair or replace it, is to give you the beauty and peace of mind knowing that your home looks great and stays protected. Give us a call or shoot over an email. We’d be happy to provide you with a free no obligation roof inspection and estimate. You’ll be glad you did. Have a great day from all of us here, at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. You know, oftentimes homeowners ask us, “can I repair my roof or does it need to be replaced all together?” So let’s take a minute to discuss when it makes sense to do a roof repair versus a full roof replacement. First and foremost, we need to consider the age of the entire roof itself. A typical asphalt shingle roof will last about 20 years or so, give or take, depending on the quality of the shingles, the quality of the installation, as well as the types of outside weather related elements that your roof is exposed to. So if your roof is new or newer, and you’re experiencing maybe an isolated problem, perhaps a small leak in a valley trouble spot or around a pipe penetration, it may make sense to simply repair the roof. And we do these every day. Now some challenges come into play in that shingles can be difficult to match colors in the repaired area. So the repair could look patchy and affect the home’s curb appeal. And some roof repair warranties can be patchy as well, so make sure you read that fine print. Now once a roof’s age begins to lean toward the older side of things, along with a roof that may be experiencing multiple problem areas, it’s most likely time to replace the entire roof. And poor quality materials or installation techniques can drastically shorten the life of any roof. And unfortunately, the roofing industry is filled with companies that just don’t last long enough to stand behind their work. That’s one thing you don’t have to worry about with AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. You see, we’ve been locally owned and operated here for over 25 years. We use only the highest quality IKO shingles, and the most
comprehensive installation process on the market to ensure the beauty and longevity of your new roof. In fact, we back that up with a 50-year roof warranty. So, if you are unsure whether you need a simple roof repair or a whole new roof altogether, give us a call at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. We will give you a free and honest evaluation as to whether or not we can repair your roof for you or leave you with an estimate for a new one. Have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions.
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Roofing Solutions. Today I want to talk about roof damage. You see there are many different ways your roof can get damaged over time, such as: ice and water damage, sun and heat exposure, wind and hail damage, and roof penetrations. Here in Georgia, we don’t have to worry too much about ice damming as the folks do up north, but it does happen from time to time. You see ice damming is a ridge or line of ice that forms along the edges of the roof that prevents melting snow or water from properly draining off the roof itself. As the water backs up behind the ice, it can leak into the home causing damage to the ceilings or insulation in the home. Now improperly channeled roof water, perhaps from insufficient or ineffective gutters on the home, can also cause damage to soffits, fascia board, and even cause leaky basements or foundation problems. And believe me, we’ve seen a lot of those over the years. Now over time, the sun and heat exposure can cause roof shingles to fade and even crack, allowing water to pass through the shingles which can damage the roof decking and then find its way into your home. Wind and hail damage can also wreak havoc on your home’s roof, and this is common in Georgia. Strong gusty winds can bend or even crack and break the shingles allowing the water to pass right through them. And hail impacts on a roof can leave what’s called impact damage,
or bruises, which cause the shingles to crack or break. Often times your homeowner’s insurance will cover roof damage that resulted from wind or hail, so be sure to check with your homeowner’s insurance company. Or, we can help you do that ourselves. Lastly, pipe penetrations, such as plumbing vents that go through your roof, can allow water to enter through. As these vent pipes age the seal around their base oftentimes becomes ineffective, and allows water to enter into the home. If you have any questions or concerns about your roof, give us a call. We’d be happy to stop out for a free no obligation inspection, and we can let you know if we find damage on your roof. Have a great day from all of us here at AquaGuard Roofing Solutions.
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. Let’s take a minute and discuss soil injection and its comical applications. At AquaGuard, we use PolyLevel in the soil injection process to address weak soil conditions due to high organic soil content, sometimes poor drainage or perhaps a previously leaking pipe. With soil injection, we have the ability to fill large voids and stabilize soils at specific depths down to 20 feet deep. What this does is increase the load bearing capacity of the soil back at the surface, which can be essential to the stability and longevity or useful life of roads, sidewalks, and even structures themselves. Soil injection can be the permanent answer to many of the settlement issues you are experiencing in your area. Feel free to contact our commercial government division with any questions or concerns that you may have regarding a potential soil injection project indoor area. Until then, have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. Are you tired of having commuters complain about rough roads or bridge approach slabs? I’d like to share with you some information on roadwork and bridge approaches and how our commercial and government PolyLevel division is well equipped to handle the job. Typical roadwork projects take days or weeks to complete. In most cases, our PolyLevel system will allow jobs to complete much quicker with much less traffic disruption the traditional repair or replacement. We can perform roadwork a single lane at a time and certainly during off-peak hours. With respect to bridge approach slabs, it’s not uncommon for settlement to occur at the road-approach transition area to the bridge. This can create a dangerous road deflection hazard to drivers, and a liability to you. Often times, our PolyLevel is the answer. On average, our process is much faster, and up to 50% less expensive than replacement. Our PolyLevel soil injection process can save time, money, and greatly reduce the liabilities associated with these types of problems. Do you have a particular issue in your area that you’d like us to look at? Give us a call, and our commercial government division would be happy to meet with you on-site and take a look at how PolyLevel could help you. Have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. I’d like to take a minute to discuss the many commercial uses for our PolyLevel system. Again, let’s start with a quick definition. PolyLevel is a two-part, high density, structural polyurethane foam that is able to fill large voids, stabilize, and in most cases, lifts and restores concrete structures back to grade. With our PolyLevel system, we have successfully completed projects for stabilizing and lifting all types of concrete slabs– roads, bridges, runways, parking areas, walkways and more. We also have the ability to stabilize and lift asphalt roads through our soil injection process. Another great use of our commercial PolyLevel system is to repair underground drainage infrastructure such as manholes, concrete and corrugated drainage pipes, box culverts, and catch basins. And in most cases, these repairs can be completed in hours with no need to excavate. Additionally, our soil injection process allows us to address weak soil conditions at specific depth locations. Do you have any questions about how our PolyLevel process can help you with your government or commercial needs? Give us a call. We’d be happy to stop out to analyze a specific need, or just stop by for a lunch and learn or demo. Have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. I’d like to take a minute today to discuss our commercial PolyLevel division. And let’s start with a definition. At AquaGuard, our PolyLevel is a two-part, high density, structural polyurethane foam that is able to fill voids, stabilize, and in most cases, lifts and restores concrete structures back to grade. Now, we’ve used PolyLevel for years in residential applications by helping homeowners stabilize and lift sidewalks, driveways, garage boxes, pool decks, even the slab of the home itself. What many people aren’t aware of are the many commercial applications we’ve been using successfully with PolyLevel for years as well. We’ve helped Homeowner associations with neighborhood issues addressing sidewalks, rec centers, tennis courts and more. Apartment associations and schools have used us to address trip hazards in walkways, pool decks and parking areas. And the capacity to help cities, counties and state governments with PolyLevel is virtually unlimited. We’ve helped many cities save time and money by addressing their concrete needs without the mess and expense of concrete replacement. PolyLevel has greatly reduced the potential liabilities associated with the trip hazards and driving hazards that are common with un-level or settled concrete. Are you noticing potential safety issues in your area? Give us a call. We’d be happy to send out our commercial division for a free inspection and evaluation on how our PolyLevel can retire your peace mind. Have a great day for all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hey folks, Tom DiGregorio, founder of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. We’ve been talking a little bit about the importance of gutters and making sure you have the right gutter protection system that captures all of your roof water. But what happens to that water one it gets into the gutter and into the downspout? This is where a lot of companies really miss the mark. This is where having a foundation repair company who really understands the importance of proper drainage is one you have to have in your corner. So what happens to all that water that comes out of the downspouts? Which, can amount to hundreds, if not thousands, of gallons in a heavy rainstorm. This is where it’s very important to properly get this water well away from the foundation. So, what we’re going to do where the situation calls for it is we’re going to attached a 4” pvc pipe directly to the downspout and we’re going to bury that underground to a low-lying area where it’s safely away from the foundation. And then we’re going to terminate that with one of several products. The first product that we can use is called a Lawnscape outlet. What we do here is you can see it has a port here that we can attach our pvc pipe to. And then you can see the design and shape of the Lawnscape outlet. And it’s designed, when we terminate this, to typically be where your yard is going to be sloped downward so that this will fit with the profile or line of the yard so that when we’re done, it’s a nice clean outlet. The water just gently flows down to a low-lying area, and it’s a nice neat termination point. The next one, is called a Pop up drain. And this is pretty much just what it says. It’s a drain that pops up. We attach our pvc in here, and when this fills with water, it simply pops this drain up when it needs to release. And when it’s done, it drops down. So this is used more when the lawn is flatter and not necessarily on a slope. So it hides itself very well. It’s easy to maintain around. But this gives it a nice, neat termination. In either case, we’ve effectively captured all the roof water into the gutters, effectively directed it into the downspouts, and piped it well away from the foundation; keeping your foundation safe and dry. So if you have concerns about your gutter system not doing all you need it to do, give us a call. Have us out for a completely free inspection and let us show you how GutterShutter is the best gutter protection system for your home.
Hey folks, Tom DiGregorio, founder of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. Today I want to talk about the importance of a quality covered gutter system, and three common myths people have about gutter guards. First of all, let me premise this by saying we’ve spent the last 24 years waterproofing basements and crawl spaces and fixing every kind of foundation repair problem. And I can tell you the number one reason why basements and crawl spaces leak and foundations settle, crack and bow is due to improperly channeled roof water. So obviously, making sure you have the right gutter protection system is invaluable when it comes to protecting your home, from the foundation all the way up. Now, the three myths that we hear all the time are, number one– I don’t have trees, so I don’t really need gutter protection. Well, you may not have trees, but your neighbors may have trees. When we get a windstorm, there’s debris flying around from all over the place that ultimately ends up on your roof and in your gutters. Then we have pollen, which is everywhere that time of the year and that too can add to the debris going in your gutters. And then we have the granules and any other debris coming off the roof that’s also clogging up the gutters. So you need to keep you gutter system as clean as possible at all times and really the only way to do that is with the right gutter protection system. The second myth is that gutter guards require installing new gutters. Well, sometimes that may be true, but it really depends on how old your gutters are and what condition they’re in. Remember the objective is to have a properly sized gutter installed correctly to capture all your roof water. You really need an expert to determine the proper product and application for your home. The third myth is that gutter guards just don’t work. And my answer to that is, “No, clogged gutter don’t work, but a properly installed quality gutter protection system does work.” Now there are a lot of components that go into designing the right gutter protection system. And if it’s not done properly, you could end up with a very poor performance on a system that you’re really counting on to do everything you need it to do. So, at the end of the day, if you really want to protect your home, you need to put a great gutter system on there with a great gutter cover system that works in conjunction with each other. The other big thing that we do that a lot of gutter companies don’t think about doing is not only where you drop the downspouts coming off of your gutters in areas that are going to be more conducive to better drainage but also taking that downspout wherever you have it and properly piping of off. So the hundreds to thousands of gallons that come out of these downspouts are well away from your foundation and protecting the long-term health of your home and foundation. If you have nay concerns about your gutter system not doing what you need it to do to protect your biggest investment, give us a call. We’ll be happy to come out and show you how GutterShutter is the best performing product for your home.
Meet Our Team!
Hi I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of Aquaguard Foundation Solutions. At Aquaguard we receive many and many calls each day, asking us about our inspection process. So I thought I’d share with you a quick outline of just how we operate. At Aquaguard, we offer a free basement or crawl space inspection or evaluation for any homeowner experiencing a problem. Our inspection can be done during the week, or on the weekend based on your schedule. Now each of our inspectors are thoroughly trained and certified before ever setting foot into your home. A typical visit consists of a full inside, and outside inspection and evaluation of your foundation. Everything we find is then documented on an inspection report. We share that inspection report with you once the inspection is complete. We explain the causes of any issues that we find, as well as review and explain all of the options for repair relative to the project at hand. And discuss the pros and cons of each solution based on what you the homeowner is looking to accomplish. Finally, together, we choose a solution, print it out and leave each customer with a comprehensive written estimate for repair.
Once we install, all of our work is performed by trained employees, and aside from a small deposit which holds your installation date, the balance is not due until the work is complete, and you have been walked through the completed job site. You see we stand behind our word, and you don’t pay until the job is complete. Remember no job or problem is too big or too small to at least take a look. So take us up on a free inspection, we understand that even if you don’t need our services right now, if we serve you right, you’ll remember us when you do. Have a great day from all of us, at Aquaguard Foundation Solutions.
Hey folks. AquaGuard Foundation Solutions has been serving the Atlanta area for over two decades and has an impeccable reputation. Especially when it comes to standing behind our work, our warranties and offering the best products and systems on the market. And when it comes to Guttershutter, it’s no different.
Guttershutter offers a lifetime no-clog warranty. It’s guaranteed to never pull away from your home. Comes with a 20-year paint warranty and a limited lifetime warranty.
So if you think you need gutters, give us a call and, let us show you why GutterShutter from AquaGuard is the only gutter system for your home.
Hey folks, today I want to talk about the importance of gutters and the different types of gutter systems on the market. Now as a foundation repair expert, please understand that the number one reason why basements and crawl spaces leak and foundations crack settle and bow is due to improperly channeled roof water. So you have to have gutters on your home. Now there are typically four types of gutters. There are open gutter systems. There are screened systems for gutters. There are all-in-one gutter systems, and there is our GutterShutter system.
Now, open gutters are better than no gutters. But it is inevitable that an open gutter system is ultimately going to be compromised by debris, pine needles, and leaves. Ultimately making them less effective. And typically water sheeting right over the gutter all around the foundation creating a lot of long-term problems for your foundation.
Now there are a lot of screen products out there that go on top of your gutters. And those screen products come with guaranteed never to clean your gutters again. Well that’s great. You may never clean your gutters again, but water’s not gonna get in them either. Because, just from the pollen we have in the Atlanta area clogging those screens, not to mention the pine needles and the leaves that are going to rest on top of those. Water in a rainstorm is going to sheet right over those. Completely missing your gutter and, free falling all around the foundation of your home.
Then we have all-in-one gutter systems. And although there are several of them out there, they have an inferior bracket system attaching it to the home. And the weight of that system can actually cause the gutter to pull away from the home, rendering them less effective and, in most cases, not doing what they were originally designed to do.
Then, at AquaGuard, we use our GutterShutter system. It’s the largest, patented, covered gutter system on the market. It features the strongest bracket on the market. Guaranteed to support our entire gutter system and never pull away from the home. It also comes with a lifetime no-clog warranty, which means you’re never going to have to worry about cleaning your gutters again.
So if your gutters are clogged, leaking or overflowing give us a call. We’ll be happy to come out for a completely free, no obligation inspection of your gutter system and show you why GutterShutter is the best gutter system for your home.
Hi, I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. As you know, Atlanta weather can change on the fly, and often times when it rains-it pours. And when it pours, our waterproofing division gets thousands of calls from homeowners in anguish over damp or wet basements or crawlspaces. Many times homeowners will ask us “Why do we have to wait weeks to get our work installed? Can’t you get out here any quicker?” My answer is always the same. Beware of any company that is not busy when the rain is heavy. You see, we use only trained, certified employees. No subcontractors and no day labor. And it takes time to properly train these installers before we are willing to put them in your home. After all, you wouldn’t want some temporary worker getting “on the job” training in your house, would you?
Remember, you only pay for the job once, but you live with the results forever. There’s a reason your favorite restaurant has a waiting list down the street, and the one next to it doesn’t. At AquaGuard we are definitely worth the wait, so hang in there, and until next time, have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi, I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. You ever lose focus on what’s important in your business? It’s usually caused by running in too many directions at the same time. You’ve heard the old saying, Jack of all trades, master of none. That’s why at AquaGuard we’re zeroed in on our own core focus. Think of core focus as sort of an elevator speech if somebody asks you what you do for a living. What would you say in just one or two sentences? At AquaGuard, our core focus is simple. We provide sensible solutions for waterproofing, concrete, and structural support. If a service doesn’t fit into that wheelhouse, we simply don’t pursue it. And a clear core focus ensures that we are all rowing in the same direction here at AquaGuard. So let me ask you a question. What are you focusing on, in your business?
Until next time, have a great day from all of us, at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi, I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. And today, I want to take just a few minutes to talk about the importance of instilling core values into your company. Let’s start with the definition of core values. “Fundamental beliefs of a person or organization- guiding values.” At AquaGuard, we’ve determined that we have five core values.
#1 – We are a service company, with integrity. We do the right things, for the right reasons.
#2 – We are driven to make the extraordinary, ordinary. We’ve decided to set the bar for customer experience much higher, and we are driven to do so.
#3 – We are accountable to our customers, to our employees, and to our community. Look, we work hard here at AquaGuard, but we’re human. We make mistakes. When we do, we own them, we fix them, and we learn from them.
#4 – We are selfless in our pursuit to serve others. Whether we’re serving a customer in the home, or we’re serving a fellow employee at the office, or whether we’re serving our community, we are selfless in our pursuit to serve others. And last but not least,
#5 – We have fun! That’s right, fun is one of our core values. You see, we believe that joy and laughter are essential ingredients to a fulfilling life. Not just outside the office, but inside the office as well. So, we have fun.
Core values make hard decisions easy to make. You see, if any action, employee, or business opportunity does not line up with your company’s core values, you simply stop going down that road. So I have a question for you: What are your core values?
Until next time, have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi, I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions. You know, at AquaGuard we’ve been serving Atlanta for 24 years and we’re still growing with over 200 employees. People often ask us, “What sets you guys apart? What makes you so unique?”
You know what my answer is? With us, everything matters.
It matters that we are honest with our messaging to our customers. It matters how we sound when we answer the phone when the customer calls. It matters that we send out information with the name and photo of our inspector prior to them showing up to your home so you know who to expect. It matters that we call the night before, and when we’re on our way, so that you can prepare for our visit. It matters that we properly diagnose and educate each and every customer, and it matters that we show up on time, and we do the work that we said we would do for you. It matters that the home looks cleaner when we’re done than it did when we got there. And it matters that we are there for each customer, years down the road should they ever need further service.
You see, to redefine an industry, we must redefine the customer experience from beginning to end. That is what makes us unique. You see, with us, everything matters. Until next time, have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hi, I’m Joe Rusk, co-owner of AquaGuard Foundation Solutions, and today I want to take just a minute or two to talk about purpose.
Let’s start with the definition of purpose, the reason for which something is done or created; the reason for which something exists. At AquaGuard, we’ve determined our own purpose, and that is to provide peace of mind to our customers, our employees and our community.
You see, our customers contact us because they have a problem with their home, their largest investment. And it’s our job to give them back their peace of mind. Our employees come to work each day looking for stability and growth opportunities so they can support their families. It’s our job to give them that peace of mind. And lastly, I think it’s all of our responsibility to provide some level of peace of mind to our communities. Whether it’s supporting a local charity or maybe working at a local food bank. You see, purpose provides clarity and meaning to every single job here at AquaGuard.
I guess you could say purpose is the light that shines down the path that we walk together here, as one team. At AquaGuard, our purpose is peace of mind. Do you know yours?
Until next time, have a great day from all of us at AquaGuard Foundation Solutions.
Hey folks! Were standing in our brand-new 46 thousand square foot, state-of-the-art facility and, behind me represents 30,000 square feet of warehouse space alone. And why is that important to you and to us? Well, first of all we can now inventory all of our products and systems right here at our disposal. Which includes, as many as, 30 different patented products and systems, all on the cutting edge of technology, all here to serve you when you need them. Now, you know a lot of companies have certain products and systems for a specific problem. And you’ve probably heard the old expression when all you have is a hammer everything becomes a nail. Well, we have various products and systems for the same type problem based on the construction of the home. So, we may have a foundation repair problem that requires a helical pier versus a push pier, a bending wall failure that may use a wall anchor versus a power brace, or carbon fiber technology. So, we’re not a one-size-fits-all. And we want our customers at the end of the day to know that when we do a job for them that the job is done right the first time, that they have a warranty that they can count on, and in our case, in most cases it’s the life of the structure transferable warranty. And, you know, that’s only as good as the company and the paper that it’s provided on. So, when it comes to AquaGuard you know you’re getting the job done right and, a company that’s going to be there for the life of the structure. When you need us, we’re there!
Today folks were going to talk about roof water and the impact it has on our foundations. You know, most people don’t realize that the number one reason why basements and crawlspaces the leak and foundations crack, settle, and bow are due to improperly channeled roof water. Now this home here is a great example of that. We’ve got this roofline that has no gutter on it. I’m not sure it ever had a gutter on it. And the impact of that over the years is we’ve had hundreds of thousands of gallons of water all located right in this area with no place for it to go. So as you can see a result of all that water over the years has literally created this massive sinkhole. And the type of soils we have here in Georgia are expansive soils and, what’s important about that is that means that they expand when they get wet and they contract when they dry. And that constant expansion and contraction ultimately allows the soil underneath this footing, which is what’s supporting this section of the house, to shrinking contract and pull away from the bottom of the footing which is what that footing is counting on to support this house. That’s the reason why over a number of years this foundation is actually settled and, we’re here today doing a repair job to stabilize this foundation from any further settlement. All a result of improperly channeled roof water.
Hey folks, we’re here at this beautiful stucco home in South Atlanta and I want to talk to you about something that is very important to the health of your foundation and happens to do with your roof water and properly channeled roof water. It’s the number one reason why basements and crawl spaces leak, foundation settle, crack and bow, and we’ve got a lot of other situations going on here as well. If you look behind me, we’ve got three different levels of rooflines. Now each one of these rooflines have their own separate gutter that drops it down to the next roofline, and drops it down to the next roofline. And all of that water, in a heavy rainstorm can be thousands of gallons of water, is all supposed to come out of this one down spot here on my right. The reality of it is it’s not really working that way. Number one, we’re in a heavily wooded area. This customer went ahead and put gutter caps on their gutters, which is a really good system, typically, but in this case, it may be restricting the amount of water that’s coming off of this steep pitched roof and into these gutters. And if any water, which we think is happening here, is cascading over the top of that gutter, it’s just completely loading this area up with water in a heavy rainstorm. What’s the downside of that? Well, there’s multiple things going on here. First of all, we know that this water not only is not getting into the gutter, but it’s running down the side of the stucco. And that stucco is absorbing this into the home and on the other side of this stucco, especially in the crawlspace, there’s particle board. And that particle board, over the years, is literally completely rotted away. Secondly, this land right behind me, as you notice, has no grass here and there’s never going to be grass here under these circumstances. Because there’s so much water that is cascading over the gutters and just landing in this area here that this area is never going to really grow grass. Which isn’t the end of the world. But because this stays so soft over the course of the year and then dries up when we have these drought conditions, we get this expansion and contraction reaction, and ultimately what’s now happening is this stoop to my left is actually settling. And the only thing supporting those steps is the soil that were standing on. These gutters are actually causing a lot of problems. Rotten wood on the other side of the stucco; we’ve got settlement going on here under these steps. And the crawl space on the other side here has had a lot of ground water saturation and a lot of ground water seepage coming in from the outside. So it required, obviously, a drainage system as well. This is important for you to understand. These are situations and circumstances that you can do on your own. Look around your house, look at your gutters, look at your downspouts. Make sure they’re properly piped off away from your home and prevent what could be thousands of dollars of damage and repair to your home. If you have any more questions or concerns about your gutters or downspouts, feel free to give us a call. We’re here to help.
